From designers and students to curious fashion lovers, we invite anyone and everyone who are interested to attend this interactive open house and tour to gain insight into the process and innovation of how fashion is made. The 2019 Nashville Fashion Forward Fund recipient, Megan Prange of Prange Apparel will share the step-by-step process of how garments are manufactured right here in Nashville, Tennessee. From the initial consultation to development of tech packs and the creation of muslin samples to shipping the final product, this event will give a guided tour of the business of fashion while also offering an opportunity to have your questions answered while enjoying a tour of a facility where fashion is at work!

Two timed sessions are available to choose from beginning at 4 and again at 5 p.m. Registration is FREE and includes a NFW x Prange Apparel goody bag. Refreshments will be served featuring Tito's Handmade Vodka and Blade & Bow Bourbon.

"Prange Apparel has come full circle with our connection with NFW. From supporting as an attendee from the first shows over a decade ago to being honored as the Nashville Fashion Forward Fund recipient in 2019 and now expanding my business to not only become a sponsor and event host of NFW, but to also launch our sister company, Innovate by Prange Apparel. This new program offers designers a complete range of product development services, including tech pack creation, pattern making, grading, and sample development." - Megan Prange, Prange Apparel

Megan Prange started Prange Apparel eight years ago in response to the demand from independent designers and boutique owners for small batch production. At the time, Megan was doing freelance pattern and sample work for local designers when she noticed the struggle they were having scaling their businesses. They couldn’t keep up with the demand by sewing everything themselves.

Prange decided to go out on a limb and open a small batch manufacturing business. She started off with just three home sewing machines and a few interns. Eight years later, Megan now has a full-scale business that employs twenty-five full time employees, has over 30 industrial machines and a client base that spans from coast to coast.

Suiting the Sound: The Rodeo Tailors Who Made Country Stars Shine Brighter Panel Discussion
October 12, 2021, 7 p.m. (Doors open at 6 p.m. for gallery access)

Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum
222 Rep. John Lewis Way South

Drawing from the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's exhibit galleries and extensive collection of stage costumes and archival materials, Suiting the Sound: The Rodeo Tailors Who Made Country Stars Shine Brighter — an exhibition curated exclusively for online audiences and free-to-access HERE —examines the dazzling artistry of Western-wear designers whose couture fashions helped to create an indelible image for country music. In partnership with Nashville Fashion Week, the museum will host a program examining the emergence of this unique “rhinestone cowboy” look in the 1940s and 1950s, largely from the tailor shops of Eastern European Jewish immigrants, and how the style has inspired fashion far beyond the stages of barn dances and honky-tonks.

Panelists include acclaimed author, historian and filmmaker Holly George-Warren (How the West Was Worn, Public Cowboy #1: The Life and Times of Gene Autry, Janis: Her Life and Music); modern-day “rodeo tailor” Jerry Lee Atwood, whose bespoke designs for his Union Western label have been commissioned by performers as varied as Americana artist Nikki Lane, Post Malone and genre-blending “Old Town Road” writer-performer, Lil Nas X; and singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Chris Scruggs, who currently plays bass in Marty Stuart’s Fabulous Superlatives band and fronts his own group, the Stone Fox Five. The panel will be moderated by Brenda Colladay, vice president of museum services at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Free program access at CountryMusicHallofFame.org, and the museum’s You Tube and Facebook. Limited program tickets are available with museum admission HERE and are also included in the NFW VIP Pass.

NFW + Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Announce Suiting the South Design Competition

NASHVILLE FASHION WEEK + COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM ANNOUNCE SUITING THE SOUND DESIGN COMPETITION

CMHFSuitingDesignContest.jpg

Nashville Fashion Week is designed to showcase the local fashion community by providing a platform to engage, learn and connect. Nashville Fashion Week has been pushing boundaries and exploring options since we launched in 2011, but NFW IMAGINE 2021 has given us the freedom to try new things as we explore the future of Nashville fashion during a pandemic. This design competition is just one of many collaborations we have planned for October 12 - 16.

Nashville Fashion Week is excited to partner with our friends at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum to give Middle Tennessee designers an opportunity to submit their personal interpretation of country music stage wear inspired by the museum's current Suiting The Sound: The Rodeo Tailor Who Made Country Stars Shine Brighter exhibit.

Drawing from the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s exhibit galleries and extensive collection of stage costumes and archival materials, Suiting the Sound: The Rodeo Tailors Who Made Country Stars Shine Brighter—an exhibition curated exclusively for online audiences and free to access HERE —examines the dazzling artistry of Western-wear designers whose couture fashions helped to create an indelible image for country music.

Applications must be received by Sunday, September 12. Up to ten finalists will be selected based on the quality, creativity, and orginality of a single design submission - sketch or finished piece - inspired by the museum's Suiting the Sound exhibit. Finalist's submissions will be included in a competition that invites the public to vote for their favorite design. The designers with the most votes will have the opportunity to showcase their finished design at a special NFW + Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum event on Tuesday, October 12 as part of Nashville Fashion Week 2021. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to enter the competition or vote on your favorite designs!
